Workout Report: 1/24- 1/30
With Boot Camp over, I’m really trying to keep my momentum going. My goal is to exercise 5 days a week. This past week I did great! Monday: Jogged to a nearby track (about 1.5 miles away), went 4 times around sprinting the straightaways and jog/walking the bends, and jogged home. My track coach friend Britt says that sprinters have “Big butts and flat guts”. Yes please! ...

You know when...
…you go into Target and you start perusing the new stuff in the juniors section and then you move on to the womens section because, well… you’re actually not a junior at all anyway, and you’re browsing and poking through racks, thinking “Huh, that’s sort of cute” and “Really? $17.99?” and suddenly you see a really cute sweater on a clearance...

I'm listed in Tumblweeds under pets, fitness,...
I’m listed in Tumblweeds, a user-generated community directory that rates Tumblr bloggers by their number of followers. Find me listed in #pets, #fitness, #portland I went with fitness because AT THE MOMENT that’s a lot of what I post about… but there’s a fair chance that will prove inaccurate in the long run.

Bonus—they are currently on sale for $44 at Zappos. This are great. I was just looking at these ones, too: For scuffing about this rainy town?...

The Minimalist Makes His Exit →
sparklingpants: TODAY marks the exit of The Minimalist from the pages of the Dining section, as a weekly column at least. There may be return appearances, but the unbroken string of more than 13 years and nearly 700 columns ends here. Oh no! My husband will be very sad to hear this.

Into the Diva's Den.....
Speaking of fitness, I went to my first Diva Den class today. It was called Look Better Naked. I mean, I could go for that. The class was pretty fun! It was definitely challenging, regardless of the silly name. It was essentially an aerobic-sculpt class. We did lots of reps with light weights and did a lot of moving around. I know I’m going to feel it tomorrow. It was nice being in an all...

Just noticed that Arthur had barfed on the floor. Went to get something to clean it up. Came back to find Taz gulping it down. Being a pet owner is gross.

Dog pill report:
This morning Taz rejected pills hidden in Kraft singles, hotdog chunks and Gravy Train (really gross canned dog food). He was, however, happy to take them hidden in chunks of coffee cake. Go figure.

Chicken Coop D'ville
laydown: So, with all this GOD DAMN talk of Portlandia, Im all - “shit. Boot Camp: Day Thirteen!
One day to go! Now that boot camp is ending, I’m determined to keep my workout momentum going. Fortunately, I bought that package of sexy fitness classes over at the Diva Den! So, next week instead of boot camp, boot camp, boot camp, boot camp, it’s gonna be BOO YA Burlesque, S.S.S.H.H.H. (Sexy Stretchy Seductive HOT! HOT! HOT!) and Meet Me at the Barre (which is their version of a...

Boot Camp: Day twelve
Last night I went over to Kay’s and had around four (five?) glasses of wine. I was pretty sure I would regret it during my morning workout, but… I figured it was worth it. What can I say? I like wine. And sometimes I like drinking too much of it. I MAKE NO APOLOGIES. So, like I said, I figured this morning’s workout would suck. But get this! It didn’t suck! In fact, I...

I was just hit by a wave of inexplicable melacholy
Not sure where it came from. Not sure what it’s about. Just a general sense of sadness about life and the things I’ve done that are over and the things I’ve never done and never will do… even the things I have no desire to do. I don’t know. It’ll probably pass in the next 5 or 10 minutes. I could use a break in the clouds today.

Jim Carrey on Inside the Actor's Studio
Graduate student: I've seen Ace Ventura over 100 times in my life, and Eternal Sunshine only once because it messed me up so bad.
Jim Carrey: So you've been in love?
I saw Eternal Sunshine like two days after I broke up with my first serious boyfriend (who basically sucked, but I didn't know any better). Worst idea ever! When the credits rolled, my friend who had gone with me to see it said, "We probably should have gone to a different movie, huh?"
No kidding!

Boot Camp: Days nine and ten
After taking a break on Sunday, working out yesterday felt great. Rest days are a very good thing. Today, on the other hand, I pretty much felt like shit. I’ve had two bad night’s rest in the row, thanks to the dog, and this morning I just could not get enthusiastic. I had even less patience than usual for the bouncing, peppy energy of the coaches. I kind of felt like throwing a...

kimbaland replied to your post: Shit I had that same problem w/ Macho and had to just drop them down his throat. Probably not the most enjoyable way, but it worked! Yeah, I’ve managed to get one or two in him this way. The problem is, at the moment, he’s taking 5 pills twice a day. Holding him down and forcing even one down his throat is a major battle. I don’t want to spend 40...

catinreallife asked: Hi! I saw your post on getting your dog to take pills, but I can't reply! I use Kraft Singles - the individually wrapped cheese slices - because they're soft enough to form a ball with the pills in the middle! My dogs don't even realize they're in there! Good luck!

Worst night of sleep ever
Taz’s meds have turned him into a anxious panting machine. Last night he was completely out of control. He paced and panted endlessly until we let him on the bed and then he continued to pant with such gusto that he rocked the mattress and I felt like I was on the deck of a ship in foul weather. Once he did fall asleep, he snored. Loudly. Also, he’s a terrible bed hog. So, as if all...

icanseenewyorkcityfrommyhouse replied to your post: Shit They make this stuff called “Pill Pockets” for cats, they must have them for dogs too. You can conceal the pill inside the treat. Cats love em. Yeah, something like that would probably work for a few days like the hot dogs did. I think maybe I just gotta switch it up regularly so he stays excited about the food.
